Restless sleeping baby

I have an 11-month-old that has just become a very restless sleeper. Some nights he even wakes himself up. He tosses and turns. Bangs into the sides of his bed and slides up and bangs his head. I've even tried putting him in the bed with me and he does the same thing! Does anyone know anything that can be done to help him rest better. I have heard that giving a baby catnip tea will help them rest at night but I don't know if it is safe.

my son is 4 months old and does the same thing! he will wiggle all around and turn on his tummy and wake himself up. what i did was i placed him in one of those wedges that a baby can lay inbetween so they dont roll over. well he just scooted out of that. so since he was to big for the headrest thing for his carseat, i put that down first then i put the wedge on top of that, so his head is in the headrest and his body is in the wedge. you can pick those up at walmart, toys r us, babies r us.
