Euthanasia - an act of mercy or of murder?

Euthanasia as we all know is the act of eliminating or terminating the life of a person or animal in a painless way because the person being euthanized is suffering much that it is impossible for him or her to recover or live normally.
It is being done through lethal injection, overdose of drugs, or the withdrawal of life support to the person.
Is euthanasia the noble thing to do to a person who is impossible to recover or live normally? Is it really an act of mercy? Or a way of murdering the person?

It is a hard question, but life should lie in the hands of God not another persons opinion on if they should die or not

Hello bulutoy2k,
I personally do not believe that euthanasia or mercy killing is something that any person on God's earth has a right to choose. God gives us life and we need to appreciate it and keep it precious. Life is one of the most valued gifts that God gives. If I was to give you a valuable dimond, would you through it in the trash as if it was garbage? Of course not, you would value that diamond and cherish it as something most precious. How much more precious should a persons life be to each of us. God is the giver of our life, we and no one else has the right to take that life except God.
God also promises us he will never allow us to go through what we can not stand up under. We live in a society where rather then take the responsibility to care and love those that are sick and suffering we push them aside in nursing home or hospice if they are terminally ill. It is sometimes the cost of medication to keep one comfortable if in pain that is the problem. The high cost of a nurses to help care for a pateint who is suffering. All these problems along with lack of true concern of how the person truly feels, plays on the controversal issue of euthanasia and mercy killings.
I have worked in a trauma unit in our local hospital and most patient who are terminally ill will truly not want to die and the ones who claim they do, when really talking to them, are more concerned about being a burden to the family. My question then is this, "Why should any loved one be made to feel as if they would be a burden to those that are suppose to love them?"
Here is a short story about of a wonderful family who took care of their grandmother while she was treminally ill. At first this dear lady wished to die and kept asking for someone to kill her. Her grandchildren asked her, why she wanted to die? Her reply was, "You kids have enough problems without caring for me and putting up with my sickness and watching me suffer. The grandchildren took grandma's hand and said," Grandma you are never a burden to us, we love you. Please let us take you home with us so we can be with you and take care of you. After all if it was not for you, we would not exist!" I noticed that tears came to their grandma's eyes as she looked at them and asked, "are you sure that is what you want?" They all replied with a positive yes." That family took their grandmother home where she lived with them for some years later.
Now does that sound like someone who wanted to die or someone who was just feeling they would be a burden. My answer to your question is this, if one truly loves with their heart a family member how could they even think of euthanasia? It is murder! People can butter up how euthanasia help the person who is suffering and yet from my own experience I have seen that this so called euthanasia and mercy killing is societies way of making it easier for those watching and those who have the responsibility of caring for their terminal family member or friend. Not in all cases but in about 98% of those cases I have seen. Eutanasia is murder after all isn't that what the law does to criminals and those who are the worst of society? Why in God's good name would anyone want to euthanize a person they love. That is definitely murder. Most important it is murder in God's eyes.
Just my opinion.
Take care,

I'm never quite sure how I feel about this topic because sometimes a person only lives because he is hooked up to machines man has created. But, he still lives and breathes. I hope I am never faced with this decision because I am certain it's one I could never make.

Euthanasia had always been a debatable issue..
yet it was been passed in congress in some countries..
what i only don't understand is.. doctors should be the ones responsible in giving life to its patients yet still they are the ones doing this kind of act to people..
i understand that it is not really advisable but then.. there are uncontrolled circumstances which we cannot really do something but to do that..
to end someone's pain and sufferings..
hmm.. thinking..
"as long as you live.. there's hope.."
"God knows when you are to be taken back to his kingdom.."
thoughts that really contradicts..
how will you go on hoping if the only way to stop it is for you to be killed..?!
and does that mean that whenever these people decide that mercy killing is the only way to end up things.. its already God's will that we call?!
*sigh*
there's really a lot of things still to be cleared to me on this matter.. but i do understand why these people are doing that.. we juz don't want to see our loved one feel the pain so long.. may this mean that we are giving him/her up or not..
