I have started posting discussions after i reached the 125 mark. Whereas i see many newcomers starting discussion rightaway. Is starting new discussions better than responding. And that being the case there would be all discussions and no responses. What do u do?Post more number of discussions or responses

i think both the making of discussions and responding to discussions are important.i say it is better to make a discussion if you are confident enough that you will generate at least 20 responses for it. by making discussions even if you are not online all the time you are assured of at least a few cents from the responses. this is what i usually do when i am busy with school. i make 2 or 3 discussions and just leave it so that the moment i check on my earnings, i still get a few cents. responding though is much easier because you just comment unlike thinking of the topic itself. i would suggest you make few good discussions that will surely be responded by at least 20 people then respond as many as possible. this way you get both benefits from making posts and by just responding to posts.

I think a lot of people just start tons of discussions to try and tempt some responses to earn money. However, I don't think it is better because then we end up with a lot of watered down, useless discussions. And I think some users have been getting in trouble for it. Plus they more than likely have low star ratings if none of their discussions are any good. I definately think you should respond to more discussions thatn you start. But you also have to think: where would we be if no one started discussions? Not everyone on this site will want to respond to the same thing so starting discussions is also a good thing.

It is easier to respond to discussions. However, we should continue to create new discussions to keep the system moving. Otherwise, the whole forum will be stagnant. Even right now, it is so hard to locate a good quality discussion to read and respond to. Most of the new discussions I observed are mylot issues. Let us help make this site a great one by creating more knowledgeable discussions.

I never thought that there are many responders than post starters. I too am more into responding. I like to respond to interesting discussions that I see around in here. Starting a post is quite difficult for me coz the topics that i have in mind are usually readily available in here all I have to do is search in mylot and walah! there it is so I really don't have to post on it.

True there are many topics available to respond to. That could be one of the reasons for so many responses.

My theory is this: Making new discussions for newcomers does not make them more money. They can only earn once on that thread. It is more important to respond. They get exsposure that way. I hope...

I mainly respond to discussions here at mylot .. after getting few responses to my first two discussions in my early days at mylot i decided not to start discussions at all and just respond, only recently I started posting discussions again just a new one every day or two days .. some got many responses and some not but i haven't noticed any change in my daily earnings .. so I think it's easier to just respond to discussions if someone doesn't have something that he really want to start a new discussion about..

i don't know the answer to that one./ half the time i get no more points by my name when someone responds. so i'm not sure how that works!

I post more responses than discussions. Firstly because I find it quite hard to think of interesting discussions to start, and secondly when I do think of a discussion that I think would be quite interesting, after doing a search on mylot I usually find that someone else has started it. I also don't believe in starting a discussion for the sake of starting a discussion as I don't feel that that is what mylot is about. So overall I mostly post responses.

I think I will stick to responding to discussions. I have started discussions but apparently I'm not very good at it. LOL Some have 0 responses. But that's ok. I'm not sure what really pays better, I much prefer being involved in a discussion than asking random one line questions? pink or green? frosted flakes or trix?

well, since i have joined mylot, hardly i have started around 10-15 discussion , morever i keep on responding, basically reason beehind this is i dont find anything in mind to which i can feel of starting discussion here, unless and untill i find a topic about which really i want to know others opinion....else keep posting reply!!!

I like both, but I really like responding since it's not something I dreamed up, but am reacting to, which is more of a challenge, and more fun! It also makes me feel like an advice columnist (wannabe, anyway!).

It depends on the mood Im in really for that day as to how many discussions and responses i post. For example today Im not in a very talkitive mood, and not feeling very inspired, so Im responding to people in the hopes of getting inspired. In general, even if I do start some discussions, I never start more than ten over the course of a twenty four hour period because I dont want to flood the forums, which I think is rude. JMO

I respond more... I definately think this pays better as if you dont get a response to your discussion you may not get paid for it... plus the point of mylot is to discuss so why not go see what everyone is talking about before you start your own discussion

I think that it depends. If you post a good discussion, and not a discussion with the same frequently questions, then you will get more responses, and that's increase your money. If you post a good responses that's also increasin money. So, it depends on your quality of your discussions and respones.
