is dying of cancer in her lungs. We just found out today. She is so far advanced that the only thing left to do is keep her comfortable. We have to give her Prednisone 2x times daily. I am having a hard time imagining our lives without her. I need some words of wisdom. How can I help comfort her? Share your stories and advice. Sad stories are welcome...happy stories too. Thank you in advance.

Sounds like your doing all you can, my heart goes out to both of you. About the only suggestions I can give is let her know you are there for her, keep the house quiet, and follow the vet's orders.

You know that's about all that we can do. Following doctors orders. Thanks for your response.

Give her lots of attention and love! Last year, one of my sister's dogs was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer and lived for about a month after the diagnosis. My sister bought all kinds of treats and medicine and gave it attention and love. The dog responded by wagging its tail. My sister had that dog, Cooper, for a really long time. I loved that dog a LOT and felt badly for my sister and her poor pet.

That's what we're doing. She's getting a cheeseburger everyday. Thanks for responding.

I am so sorry to hear that you are losing one of your family members. Our pets are just that, a member of our family. How long did they give her? Just love her and love her. Big huggers to you.

Oh, you are so sweet. Thank you for your kind words. They gave her 3 months at the most. We (us and the vet) were so excited with her amputation coming back negative of cancer, that we didn't even think about any place else. It's so sad, she looks great, it's the meds and deep down she knows she's dying, you can see it in her eyes. Thanks again.
