What frightens you?

I'm afraid of being a failure. I seem to have bad luck holding down a job and end up continually in debt. I have all of these hopes and dreams that I just can't get to while I'm in this situation.
I'm afraid that I'll be a nobody forever and that no one will care for me when I get older. I look at all of the support that my grandmother receives while she's dying, and it's amazing. She's got 6 kids and a bunch of grandkids to help her out. My husband and I don't have kids, so what will happen to us?

That is a very thoughtful and sincere comment. I understand exactly what you mean about the fear of being a failure. For me, that is par for the course as a perfectionist. The key I have found is that all things happen for a reason and that we must learn to accept things as they are without difficulty. High aspirations go a long way, even if from time to time you find yourself unable to reach them. The point is to atleast have goals to reach for and to live as intentionally as possible.
As for the loss of loved ones and not being alone when we get old, I think everyone from all walks of life can identify with that. Sometimes my thoughts come to rest squarely on the cold hard fact that life is empty and fleeting. All I can do is learn to let go, even when the time comes for us to fade away, as a sunset or a buring ember. What more is there to life than but one fleeting moment which we can never truly grasp. There is nothing really to be gained in life. We leave everything behind when we depart this life, except hopefully a legacy of affecting in a positive manner.
Thank you very much for your touching remarks. I wish you strength in letting go when the time comes.

I hate spiders and I fear the inevitable of losing a loved one or a close friend. It was devastating for me when I did lose loved ones who were dear to me, and I still find it hard when I think about them from time to time. I miss them very much, and I just don't think I can handle losing an immediate family member.

Spiders make my skin crawl as well (no pun intended). And losing loved ones is one of life's true tests of resiliency. Sometimes the going gets so rough, it can become a struggle to life your head high. All we can do is celebrate the lives of our loved ones.
Thank you, Shelly for commenting on my post. I will return the favor shortly.

The thing that frightens me the most is something happening to my son or my husband. I just found my husband and I'm not ready for him to go yet. My son is 10 months old and he is just bursting with life. The only way to prepare is to just resolve yourself that life is part of a cycle and sometimes the cycles begins and sometimes it ends.

Heights are my biggest fear. I tried to conquer it a few years back by going mountain hiking on a regular basis. Loved the hikes but hated the elevation, and never did get over it.

Doesn't that just suck too when you find that there's really no way about it, no way to overcome that fear? I'm sorry, dude, but I certainly hope you still get out and enjoy nature! Thank you for the response!

I think the thing I am most afraid of is not being able to have another child for my husband and I.
Prayfully I will.

What do you do to help yourself recover from the dizziness. Do you think of other things to try to take your mind off of it, or is it just too much to handle? Thanks for the response. Wanna go skydiving sometime? NOT!
