Why does the music industry expect us to pay 20$ for an cd when there is only ever two of three good songs on it ? Do you pay for cd's or do you download ?

i mostly download the good songs but i also like to buy cd's of my favorite singers because it helps support them, where as downloading (if you do not pay for them) does nto support them what so ever.

I generally download, it does seem downright ridiculous to pay that much for a cd. One thing I don't mind doing is paying for "Greatest Hits" and "Now Hits" and stuff like that, where I know I'm going to get at least 10 songs from various artists that I really like.

I buy never buy cd a lot. Because many cds are having one or two good song, it's not wort it to spend that much money on it. I am very choosy in this case. You can hear to lot of online song and ofcourse you can download some.

Maybe you have diffrent taste you know. For other people, maybe all the songs are good and for you it might not. Well $20, I said they need profit, if they dont get profit or may I say all of music industry dont get profit, they will all closed up. and how will you find the music if there is no one producing it. they have to pay all their staff money, the cost of the cd's, cover cd, the place for recording, the tools for recording and all that. I pay for CD, downloading , its just not fair that I dont pay anything for their hard work.

Seriously, how many people do you know who like every song on even a few of the cd's they own. Out of say 100 cd's I have, (besides the greatest hits type ones) I probably only have five, or maybe 10 at the best that I like most, but definitely not ALL of the songs. That's fine that they need profit, but good grief! How much is too much? Artists often become billionaires off of this stuff, doesn't that seem ridiculous? It's not just covering the prices of the cd etc etc, it's making them filthy stinking rich too. In my opinion ;)

I agree. why do they need 10 lexus and 6 bmw's. lol. all bling'd up! ok so they have a talent. some of them, but on top of the cd sales they also have merchandise sales, and OVERPRICED concert seat sales!

I think they are whacked out of it to ask that much honestly, but I couldn't care less because I do indeed download any songs that I like. Great topic! A+

You wouldn't be listening to any music if you get it for free now. Record companies and music makers need money so they'll be able to go on and create more songs for you to listen to.

I usually download since it's only $1 per song and you can download only the ones you like.. once I get 10 or so I burn them to a CD myself. This guarantees that I like ALL of hte songs on a CD! I can't stand paying $15 for a CD to only like two songs. If I really like a new band I will still buy a CD just to support them, but that's only on rare occasions. I think digital downloading of onlya song or two pushes artists to put out more GOOD stuff, rather than 'filler' songs to fill up a CD.
