Is your WalMart a dangerous place to shop?

The WalMart closest to where I live has always seemed really scary to me at night. It's open 24 hours and the parking lot is very dark. I try really hard not to go there late at night. Once I was even followed by a man out into the parking lot but I was okay because when I realized he was following me I turned around and went back in the store.
Well I just saw this new report saying WalMart stores are 400% more dangerous than Target stores! Here's a link:

So... what does it say about your WalMart? Is it more dangerous than you thought? Or did you always know it was a dangerous place to shop?

Wow..I never knew there was a website regarding crime at Wal*Mart. I've been to one at night. It's not horribly lit, but I still think it needs more lights. When I was in Wal*Mart at night..they were cleaning the store. I don't think I've ever seen Wal*Mart that clean before. Some aisles were blocked off by yellow tape. I was only in there for some Pepto. But it does seem creepy at night in the store.

I've never heard of that. I've been to WalMarts late night and I love them. I know that they are COVERED in security cameras and that I have never seen anything bad happen at one ever. Thats surprising because most of the Targets near me are crappier than the WalMarts.

Interesting. The Target near me is much nicer but it's also a lot newer than the WalMart.

I never really thought about it. I usually don't shop at night, so I guess I feel safe.

I feel safe shopping at our walmart in Great Falls , MT the parking lot is well lit and there are cameras all through out the lot. But during x-mas purses get stolen out of the cart so I always use the childrens safety belt and buckel it through my purse strap so if they grab my purse and run they will be a bit suprised...

No, I always walked everywhere I wentso I don`t shop at night cause I can`t see good enough to walk there in the dark so I really can`t say if it is dangerous or not. It probably is only I don`t know about it. The walmart where I live is only open til 10pm and I have never heard about anything on the news about it so I assume it is ok
You have a good evening

That's good to hear. My WalMart is in a very nice upscale pricey kindof area and yet it's still really yucky and does seem dangerous.

I feel it is dangerous to go late at night. I always go when it's light outside. One time I went with my bf when it was late, but I would never feel comfortable going out late alone.

i think walmart only seem dangerous to shop doing the days because there are soo many people walking around, that is why i love going at night around 12, alot less people, and you get to check out alot faster too, less to wait. but i work at both target and walmart, target is alot cleaner and nice and refeshing inside and out vs walmart which is not.

I have never really felt that comfortable shopping at Walmart or Target after dark. Even though the stores where I live are in good neighborhoods, you never know who will be out their creating trouble or looking for it. I do my best to shop during daylight hours. Just the other day when my daughter and I were at Target, there was a suspicious looking gentleman walking circles around a car that was parked close to where we were getting ready to park. My daughter was driving and I told her to pull on through and find another area of the parking lot to park. After we parked and started walking to the store, we saw two police cars parked in front of and behind the car that the suspicious guy was walking around. I guess that it was good that I was aware of our surroundings.

This is an interesting report, and Yes, I think it is about time they add more Security, etc. to their stores. I know there is one we Shop at that they do have Security, but I am not sure they have enough of it, as I have seen some weird people there. And around us, the incidents, or purses or wallets being stolen out of purses while women were in shopping was on the Rise too. I often wonder why in a lot of areas, you will find the WalMarts in areas that a lot of times normal people would not Shop, or put them in the middle of no where, and then have to build everything around them? I see that happening more and more where at least here in WA when they are first built, some of them have nothing around them... so you have a Great way for more danger unless you have Good security as people can hide out easier if their is nothing around them.

The Walmart I go to has security. Well It is more like a little old man drives around the parking lot. I don't feel all that safe which bites because Walmart I liek to go shopping late at night/early morning. If I go between the hours of 10 am and 10 pm it is completely mobbed especially during the weekends. I live in an area where loads and loads of people come from where they live in the cold area to spend their winters here in Arizona.

I worked at Walmart overnight for 2 years.I never felt in danger. It was pretty much quiet after 1 am. Most Walmarts do have onsite security and cameras. If you feel unsafe going to your car, you can always ask someone from customer service have someone walk you to your car.

I never would have though of my WalMart as a problem to shop at at night, like you suggested. Sure the parking lots are dark at night, but there are lights there to help. And there are so many people in the parking lots and going in and out of the store i don't see any reason to worry.

I don't think my walmart is a dangerous place to shop. I like to go late at night because its not so busy.. Around here they were having problems with people stealing purses ... I guess one would distract you while the other would go in and take money and credit cards. I think they caught the people though.. I know I"m more careful now with my purse. Happy shopping, be safe!!
