I'm worried about toxic molds in my My daughters' gym.

I teach a class of 1&2 yr old in a mommy and me gymnastic class and I'm concerned about the over whelming smell of mold/mildew when walking in. The owner really doesn't try to correct this. It flood when it rains heavy in the foam pit and under the trampoline. He didn't even replace the foam blocks when they get wet on the bottom of the pit. I don't know what good it would do to express my concern to him. What actions could I descretely take to make sure this isn't hazardous to all the children attending his gym? I noticed my lungs hurting after class as well.

You can make an anonymous call to the health department to check it out.
If they find it to be hazardous, then they will give him a notice to have it cleaned up by a certain time frame.
Honestly, that is the best thing to do. If there are molds and mildews growing there, they can be hazardous to many people's health!

earlier I was discussing this with my husband and he said, you don't want to call the health dept. on your job! I said idealy no, but I'm concerned for peoples health. I'll find a way. I hate for the gym to be sut down becasue of me but I notice my daughter getting sick alot. Since last weeks weather with all the rain and the last rain we had before I know it can't be good.

Thank you, much for showing this article to me. Should I confront the owner about my concerns? I want to do both but If I contact the health dept. he will know it's me. I'm suprised noone from other level of classes have done some thing. Is people just ignorant to ignore?
