i'm sure you'll get to read a lot of ideas for coming up with a wonderful and fun party. but i would like to share with you what i did for my youngest daughter's first birthday. i came up with an idea of asking the guests to write her a sealed letter which i will open on her 7th birthday. The letter could contain wishes for her, advice for when she grows up, or anything. She will be 7 years old this coming March, and i'm really excited about the letters.
Just remember to keep the letters away from your ever-curious child, because one time, when my daughter was around 5 years old, she saw the letters which i kept inside a box, and she really got curious because she saw her name written on the envelopes. I really had a hard time convincing her that she's not supposed to open those letters and that it was not yet the right time. Fortunately, she forgot all about it, and she has never mentioned it after that incident.

hi! i just want to add one more here... i just attended a first birthday party last weekend and i liked the idea of the baby's mom. She distributed slips of paper to each guest and asked each of us to write something for the baby, which she said she will put in a Time Capsule, to be opened on the baby's 18th birthday. Everyone liked it and really participated, the mommies, the daddies and the kids wrote something for the birthday girl.

How precious. I'm happy that you are so very happy too.
Can you bake a big birthday cake and invite your family and friends? Put decorations all over the house.
I'm sure it will be wonderful dear. Blessings.M&M

Think of a theme that your daughter likes, like a favorite cartoon or character and use that for the theme of her party. I was reading in one of my books to schedule the party after she is done taking a nap and after she has eaten, that way you will be able to completely focus on your child on her special day. Take lots and lots of pictures so you can make a scrapbook of the past years events in her life. One neat thing I did.. was take a picture of her on her birthday and then they sale these picture frames with the white board on the inside where the picture shows through and everyone that comes to the party have them write something special to your daughter on her birthday. It's something she'll be able to look back on and plus, you'll remember who all came to her first birthday party. Good luck.

My son just turned one. It was just for the family, but I wanted it to be special. He likes Pooh and Tigger, so I made him a Pooh cake and stuck a little Tigger figure on it. They don't make Tigger cake pans anymore or I would have done that. Then I made a round cake with a duck on it (he loves ducks!) for him. We got a mylar balloon with Pooh & Tigger on it, and a few colorful balloons to make a bouquet. He's got the mylar one hung on his wall now (deflated) and he got to play with the others for a day or so. We let him play in his duck cake and eat the frosting that he wanted. Got lots of pictures. We tried to have him help open some presents. He didn't do much of that, but he did look at the stuff. He didn't seem to know what was going on, but that's ok. Then after that we opened a couple of things for him to play with while the adults gabbed. He had fun and that's what counts. Enjoy the party!

I have a 2 year old and a 3 year old. A party for kids 2 and under is really a party for you. They really don't want or need a party. For my kids for their first and second birthdays, I had grandma and grandpa over for some pizza (their favorite meal), a few balloons and cake. If you decide to actually have a party, remember your child is only one and anything longer than an hour will probably overwhelm her. Also, keep it relatively small.
