Can you describe “What is the difference between want and need”?

I agree with #1, a need is something you must have to survive like food, water, shelter, clothes, and medicine if you're sick. A want is a desire of something beyond that.

thats simple men. you cant live without the things you need like water, food and clothing while wants are things you just want for an extra pleasuere like technologies or things that really doenst need for life survival.

wanting something is not a necessity you dont have to have you just want it and needing something is something you just have to have you cant go without it like food you need food to live but you dont need candy or chips you just want it because its good

Want is what you wish for.ex: car,iPoD etc and need is the very basic things that you need to survive like food,water etc That is why we can go without our wants but our needs have to be satisfied.There are many kinds of needs.They are basically classified as 1. Physical 2. Physiological 3. Ego fulfillment 4. Physchological

I'll just mention a few examples here : I WANT a new TV but I don't NEED it. I WANT the latest model of cellphone but I don't NEED it I WANT that branded shoes but I don't NEED it. I WANT to eat pizza noe but I don't NEED it. the list can go on and on..

well - when you say want - it is just a desire and you can do away with it. When you say need - it is a necessity and essential.

Need: You must have it to survive; food, air, shelter, water. Want: Everything else: iPods, cell phones, cable tv, 3000 square foot house, etc.
