Tired of renting

I live in an apartment. It's a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment. All the rooms are very big except for the kitchen. Two people do not fit in there. The apartment is really nice, but I'm sick of not having any space in here. We had to get a storage unit to get some stuff out so that we could move around. Is anybody else sick of renting?

What's your square footage? My husband and I live in a 2 bedroom/2 bath and it has 1500 square feet. Our kitchen is big though, which was the biggest attraction of the apartments. It is "L" shaped with an island/bar. We also have quite a bit of storage..a walk in pantry, walk in linen closet, 4 walk in closets (2 per bedroom), and a full laundry room with shelves.

I never had a problem with renting until we moved back to Louisiana and our rent price sky rocketed for teeny tiny apartments that are 25+ years old. I have been renting for 8 years now and really am not ready for a house - at least not in this state. We are hoping to move within the next 3 years. At that point we will look at moving into a house, condo, or townhouse.

not that sick of renting. sometimes i may call it disadvantage because i grew up with everybody's doing favors for me. everybodys doing all the things like cooking, laundry, cleaning my room, stuff like that.. but when i start going to colleg i had to rent an apartment to make it easier going to school. this time, alone, i have to do all the work like i mentioned above. its tiring sometimes. i have my own cooking stuff but when i got tired of cooking -- i just buy bread instead. and yes its tiring , just sometimes, when you have nobody totalk to and you dont feel like talking to your neighbor if they come talking to you. i feel so strange.

I only rented for about 3 years. I didn't like it. And I couldn't see paying that much money every month. I had a 1 bedroom apartment and was able to buy a 2 bedroom house for less monthly payments. I really like owning better than renting.

What kind of stuff are we talking about? I live by myself in a one-bedroom. My bedroom has a bed and nightstand, my living room a desk with the computer and two bookcases, dining room one table (with a tiny TV I recently got so I wouldn't be totally ignorant of current media events, like American Idol (humphf)) I could get rid of the couple dozen boxes of books I have -- I keep thinking to send them to the library to donate them but they are somewhat heavy and I don't have a car.
Still they are just against one wall and doesn't take too much room -- they are just a bit of an eyesore.
So what is it that is taking so much room? What is it that you need to spend money for storage space? Are those things REALLY necessary to have?
