Do you think that TV shows have changed the way you live life?

When I was in my communication class, we talked about how the media, TV in general, has altered the way we view everyday life. TV becomes the basis of the way you perceive things to be like when you say I love you or when you experience your first kiss that there would be fireworks just like what happens on screen and if what you experience doesn't match what you've seen, then you would be disappointed. What are your thoughts? Do TV shows really change the way we view and live life in general?
