I went to get my hair dyed the other day. I was looking through different types of hair color and thought about the term red head. How come people who have orange colored hair are called red heads? Where did that come from? The color of the hair is orange, so why do people refer to it as red hair and not orange?

Thats an interesting question. There is a lot of things like that you always wonder why. I have red hair not orange but I know they called people with orange hair carrot tops. For some odd reason they call people with blond hair toe heads. What in the world is that about that is more boggling to me then why people with orange hair arent called orange heads:)
