I was coming out of the store today and this man asked me for some change so he can buy a can of beans or something. I gave him 2 dollars. Some people wont do it because they say that they are probably going to use it for drugs etc but what if they arent. I feel sorry for them and you never know when that could be you. Do you help homeless people or do you just turn your nose up and walk on. I think the situation is sad and where are these peoples families?

I would help them if I felt led too, and not care what others think. Maybe they are trying to Scam you, but what if they really are telling the truth? And I feel what goes around comes around, so if you help someone today when they need it, it will come back on you. So I feel you did the right thing no matter what others here might think.

No, never do it unless you know them personally. Verification too is needed. My experience in this regard is sour and I dare not even recount, but for your satisfaction, here it goes.
I always had a soft corner for homelss, destitute or whatever people may call. Last year during October a lady with his brother visited our door and enquired about need for hepatitis injection. I replied in the negative, but seeing their plight, I asked them in and served tea etc to them. We had a chat during which they convinced my wife to get the hepatitis injection carried out. That was that.
A day later, the lady called in again and said she was in need of a room for shifting from her present residence due to harassment by the landlord. Without much thinking, I agreed to let them in. That was the worst decision I took in my life. when they shifted, there were in all five members with a girl of about 24. Then came the disappointment. I got to know that the girl was in love with the brother of the lady and they used to live together the entire lot. One fine evening, the entire family disappeared with only the young man sitting alone in the room. As usual I did not lock the gate. But during the night the girl came and the two had a good night to share. That was that. I later got to know that the husband of the girl was in jail and these two were enjoying away life. I therefore, asked them to vacate the room. They kept promising me that they would. I was in desperate need to turn the entire family and the girl out. But my neighbours advised me not to act strong with them as it could create unnecessary tension. I kept praying to Jesus Christ daily that I may get the room vacated earliest.
One day, I had gone outdoors and on my return I prayed fervently to Jesus Christ to get them out. While I reflected for a moment, I could see Jesus Christ in my mind but alongside I saw a horse which to my mind indicated some force would have to be made to get these people out. But on reaching my house I learnt that the entire family had vacated. It so happened, these were fraud people giving injections for private earning and they were confiscating huge amounts on this account from the original company which had deputed them for this act. Somehow the company got wind of it and send some touts who fisted them out of my room. Just a miracle, if you want to believe it.

What is sad is that 90% of these homeless guys are qualified enough for a job, and are just too damn lazy to get one. If 200 strangers out of 1000 gave a homeless man 2 dollars every day, he would technically be a richer man than you. If its a common fact that homeless people have enormous bank accounts, even though they live on the street does not mean they do not have money.
