Age you bought your first car

I still don't have a car or my licence! i have got my beginners a few times when i was allowed to drive my parents car, but that stopped, and i never ended up getting it. It wasn't a big deal for me cause i lived in the city for most of my life so i could always just walk or take the bus. I do have a saving set up for my daughter, i think its going to go towards her schooling though. I think that is more important then having a car. If we have the money and a car i will let her learn and drive my car when she is old/responsible enough .

I was 17 when my father gave me as a present an old VW bettle. That was my first car and I really loved it!

I guess I'm not in the norm here (but when am I ever - LOL). I bought my first car when I was 15. I couldn't even drive it yet!!!. You can bet I was down to take my test as soon as the shop opened up on my 16th birthday. It was a Toyota Corolla 1977 - I remember it well. Had lots of fun in that car!!

I purchased my first car at 26 yrs of age. I dont parents should buy a car for the kids because they dont learn what is the value of money. Children should save money before purchasing a car. It depends whether your kids respect you or not, whether they value money or not.

I was 21 when I had my first car. I paid for it all by myself. I don't think parents should buy their kids cars. I went to school with a lot of kids that upon graduation thei parents gave them a car. One of my friends, the first thing she down, was to wrap it around a pole. Her comment, Dad will just buy me another one. Oh dear!! What happened to earning something. They graduated from high school, well, they were supposed to. Let them buy their own car, maybe then they will appreciate it more.

I bought my first car when I was 18. Until then, I drove "the kids car".. the car that my parents bought to keep at the house for all the kids to use, which worked out REALLY well for them. There was no fighting about it at all. I was the oldest and when I was 16 and got my license, the next oldest was only 14. When I graduated and moved out, she turned 16 and got her license, and the next one was only 13.. so it worked out perfect for my parents. I think that a teenager should have a car and be responsible for it when they get their license.. it'll teach them about the financial responsibility of a vehicle, so that they're aware of it when they leave the nest.

22, I think boys like them even younger but they must be taught to be responsible OR no car

I bought my own car when I left home at 18. I was lucky that my boyfriend (now my husband) went guarentor for me and the bank lent me the money to buy it. It would be nice for parents to buy their children their first car but they should also have the responsibility of upkeep on it. I think they appreciate it more then.

I was 18 and had already had my drivers license nearly 2 years. It was a 1978 Pontiac Le Mans. I loved that car. Only had 65k original miles on it when I bought it in 89. It was in good condition, too. Too bad a teenager bought it...I trashed that thing in about 3 years time. What a shame. 305 V8 with a 350 turbo...

I couldnt afford to buy my own car yet, though sometimes I drive my mom's car, Hopefully by the end of the year, I could be able to buy a cheap 2nd hand car just for the heck of it. hehe
