Hi fellow parents, i need some advice on how to potty train my son. he has his own potty and knows the concept of it. he will go sit down in it and say pee pee, but wont let me take his pants off to do it.lol he will go in the "big" potty before his bath every night but he just doesnt want to take his pants off to go. any ideas on how to potty train? i have another baby on the way and dont really want 2 in diapers.

My son is 3 years old now. I didn't give him potty training. I guess the most effective way is that he sees someone doing it for real. Like u or his dad. Just be sure that he will imitate how to pee from his dad. heheheh

Well, here's some ideas as I found myself in a similar situation. First, let him run around in just underwear, no pants, that way you won't have to worry about the whole pant thing right now anyways, and yes, he'll make a mess (problably alot of them initially) but he will learn that he doesn't like the feeling of wet pee on his legs. Second, take him to the potty often, to try and go.. I found that when I first started I put my little guy on his potty while he was watching a movie, and he would inadvertantly go, giving me an opprotunity to praise him and introduce a reward.
Also, we had my son teach his teddy bear how to go pee in the potty, he would put underwear on him, pretend to give the teddy a drink, and then we'd put teddy on the potty and make a psss sound pretendign he would go (we put water in the potty before hand) and then we taught teddy how to pull up his underwear, flush the toilet and wash his hands.. then we would give teddy a treat.(the same treat we eventually gave to my son.) it takes alot of work and patience and know that when the baby comes, your son will prob. have ALOT of accidents and may even regress. Good luck to you and congrats on yoru new addition.

Hello. Have you tried those pull up pants? they seem to really work well with kids because they get used to that diaper feeling and pullups also feel like underwear. Maybe offer him an incentive or reward if he chooses to take his pants off to go to the potty. Maybe show him the new style of underwear that have like cartoon characters on them and let him choose a favorite and just explain to him that they cant be thrown away and they will have to be washed so he will learn hopefully not to potty in those. Hope this helps you.
