Do you have a problem with this?

WELL-BEHAVED, LEASHED dogs are allowed at the outdoor dining areas of many restaurants. Do you object to dogs being near any part of a restaurant? When I lived and traveled in Europe we had a little dachshund who went every place we did. Occasionally, especially in Germany and in Italian trattorias they would even prepare a small plate of food for him. I don't know if that is still the same in Europe? Much worse things go on in the kitchens of restaurants than just having a customer with a well behaved dog at their feet.
Do you think it is disgusting or a health problem?

I don't see a problem with it as long as the dogs are well behaved and outside. I guess it could be a problem to people with allergies though. It is a health problem for the dogs to be in the kitchen, their hair could fly up into someones food.

Well you have people allergic to animal dander, which can fly around. I think that would be a problem. But as long as the dogs didn't bark or touch my food, it woudn't bother me.

I agree, not all people around us are dog-lovers, some are easily get irritated when there's dog around them, some are scared, some are allergic.
As a person having a dog, I don't mind having our dog with anywhere we are as long as they (dogs) are clean, smells good, and well behave, otherwise we will leave them at home.

I think dogs should be brought near the restaurants yea ... it might affect our food ... in singapore we had sign boards that don't allow dogs to enter a certain place yea which i think is very good

i think if the dog isnt bothering anyone it isnt a problem but if the dog was huge and a big slobbery mess then there would be an issue. I think the law should be that te animal must be so many feet away from the kitchen at all times...wiener dogs are cool my dad has 2 of them.

Well, if your dog is well behaved then I see no problem in that..I am not a dog fan or anything but only stray dogs should not be allowed because they might bite or grab other peoples food.

I don't have a problem with it as long as the dog stays with the owner and is well behaved.
I have a problem with not being able to take my dog into a coffee shop to get my coffee! I don't like leaving my dog leashed outside. I'm just getting coffee!!! sheesh!

I don't have a problem with this if it is outdoors. I wouldn't necessarily want to go to a restaurant where they allowed this indoors simply because of the shedding issues, it would be hard to keep hair out of your food. But outside, I have no problem with is. If the animals are well behaved then I can't see why anyone would have issues with this.

I dont't think it is disgusting as long as, the dog is well maintain and and well behaved. some countries even have a restaurant just for dogs. owners should just see to it that their dogs are clean always and should be train not bite other people.

Great question!
I have the occasion to take my animals with me, and have attended "Yappy Hours" with them outside of bars and restaurants in Florida. There are no health violations for having leashed dogs and cats outside of bars etc, and it is a wonderful time for everyone. If there were restaurants serving only people with pets, it would be a gold mine. I'd eat there every day. Remember... Dog Hair is a spice!

I have no problem with well-behaved, leashed dogs at outdoor dining areas. If you saw some of the things that go on in the kitchens of restaurants you probably would not eat there again. Having worked in the food service industry for many years, I know what I'm talking about. Some of the things I have seen would curl your hair. Thank you for this post.

Yes I think it is wonderful to be able to bring your dog with you. I usually take my chihuahua on vacation with me. But when we go out to eat he has to stay in the car or hotel. When we go to places in the summer we eat outside whenever possible. We bring him then, but only to casual type places with outside seating. I have never tried to bring him to any place fancy with indoor only. I used to bring my springer spaniel "Winston" with me everywhere. There are two places in Maine, usa that he loved. They would give him some chicken nuggets on his own little plate... I thought it was very nice of them. I don't think there is a problem as long as they are well behaved and on a leash as you said. We also take Gizmo to McDonalds alot and eat outside.

Yes - we still do that in some parts of Europe. And I certainly don't have a problem with it. In fact I would much rather sit in a restaurant with a well-behaved, quiet, well-trained dog, than someone's screaming ill-behaved child!!!

I see dogs outside at resturaunts all the time now in the U.S. As long as your dog is clean and well behaved, I don't see a problem.
