Have a piping cup of Chamomile tea right before bed. Take a hot bath with lavender. Once you are in bed, clear you mind and close your eyes. Focus on something soothing and calming; a field of flowers, the clouds, counting sheeps seems like an old cliche, but it helps to clear the mind. Just a few suggestions. Good luck to you.

You need to reset your patterns. Check what you are doing in the daytime that is disturbing you. If you cannot fix it yourself, see a doctor. Here are some tips: Get up early, and at the same time daily. First thing, expose yourself either to the sunrise or very bright lamps for about 30 minutes. No caffeine after 2:00 pm. No exercise late in the day. Eat a light evening meal. Cut off the tv and dim the lamps and lights about an hour before you want to go to sleep (NO TV OR COMPUTER IN THE BEDROOM). Same with the computer, stop using it an hour before bed time. Warm bath or shower an hour or two before bed, so your body temp will drop, that makes you sleepy. If you go to bed and cannot go to sleep, do not lay there more than 20 minutes, as that is training your body to be awake in bed. Get up, drink some warm cocoa, read something. Supplements that help are melantonin (I have not used) and calcium and magnesium (I take all of the time) . Certain prescription and over the counter meds can have the effects of causing insomnia, check with a pharmacist.

i face similar problem like you are facing but it is only when I continuously keep on thinking about something. My advice to you is don't have afternoon nap and do some work all by yourself without using much of electronic gadgets, this will make you feel tired and you will have a sound sleep. Have a nice sleeping.....

Oh yes, there were lots of time when I couldn't fall asleep for hours lying in bed. Generally it happens when I'm too excited over some plans and ideas that I look forward into doing in the future or ven for the next day to come. Sometimes when I go to bed I'm very worried about something that might happen. I figure out the causes of these sleepless nights, it's because of something to do with the future, it might be worries or excitement. So inorder for me to lessen this stress before bedtime, I jot down the things that occupies my busy mind, like things to be done, things that I accomplished throughout the days, and things that worries me. Somehow I felt assured that when I woke up the next day, I will remember and tackle those things for in the present day.

I guess you have problems unresolved yet. If you have a lot of things in mind, it's really hard to catch up sleep. Try to relax and free your mind but I know it's hard to do that. Maybe try to get some sleeping pills or maybe seek a psychologist. God bless you.

Insomnia, that is, sleep problem is a serious problem and a matter of grave concern to one and all. If you suffer from this physio-psycho malady, you will not only lose your sleep but also you also lose your hunger, mental stability, physical health in the end. The cause is mainly psychological and physiological as well. Some physical diseae also causes insomnia. But when you suffer from anxiety strain out of depression, you are most likely to develop sleep problem. Depression is today's one of the most phenomenal diseases and modern life is at the root of this evils. But do not go for anysedative on yourself without a doctor's prescription. You consullt a physician and do some home exercise : Do yoga to enhance your mental stabilit, take a short lazy walk after dinner, before going to bed take a glass of cold water.

Yes, I also suffer from this problem. I go to bed and get really cranky with myself for not being able to go to sleep. I also get the restless feet and leg syndrome which doesnt help either. I make an effort to go to bed at the same time each night but it doesnt work.

I know there are a lot of people who experiences the same way you're having right now and that includes me. Although I haven't experienced sleepless nights for months, maybe just weeks. My advice for you is maybe you could buy some sleeping pills, pills that are herbal so that it will have no side effects. If you don't want to take pills, you may try to drink milk before you sleep. That will help calm you. Just search in the internet. There are a lots of tips on how to sleep effectively. The food we eat also affects our sleeping. Banana will help you fall a sleep. I've read that thing in the net. :)

I have experienced this a lot. I've seen though in a tv show that if you want to sleep and you've been lying on the bed for more than 10minutes and you still can't sleep, you better stand up again. Get some milk or do some relaxing activity like reading. And go back to sleep if you feel relaxed and sleepy.

I'm not sure what types of things you have tried already but I have a very good friend who suffers from inability to sleep as well. She recently has had success by smearing Lavendar oil under her nose. She says it is a little intense but about when she thinks it is too strong is able to drift to sleep. You may also try melatonin at the same time. It can cause some nightmares or weird dreams for some people but sometimes if you can just get some sleep your body will take care of the rest. Good Luck.
