Hi , I'm Fijian and we say "Bula" (boolaa) for hello, and " Vinaka"( vee-naa-car) for thankyou in Fijian. From the Fiji Islands.
We have other tongues that is native to our islands and they have their own ways of saying hello and thankyou but Bula and Vinaka is very common.
Hope you all join in.
Vinaka.

In proper English it would be "Hello" and "Thankyou" In my local dialect it wouldn't be out of place to hear "Ey, up m'duck" and as for thankyou, the slang being "Tar" (which I hate to hear) or "Cheers".

Hey thanks......that's nice to hear, I know in Australia and N.Z they have their own way too, so I'm also expecting different ways of saying it in English too.........
I like the cartoon character one...Watz up doc...
Then again I hope to get a lot of ways of saying " hello'" and "Thankyou" and don't to say where you from even if you are from parts of the a particular country.
Thankyou, Vinaka, Tar/Cheers.

I don't think you can edit just yet, though I get what you meant! I must of forgotten to actually put where! England as you've guessed but more specifically East Midlands; Derbyshire.

Oooh...Manaona/Bula( boo-laa)
I love your island, something like Fiji.
If I ask my kids today about Madagascar, all they will say is " I like to move it , move it,
Move it!" lol...
They love that movie.....and can't get over it. It has replaced Nemo, now.
Anyway, Nice to hear from someone from Madagascar.

we have general love..i.e...LOLOMA....something like regards to all at home, love to your family......
But...love as in, in-love, or girlfriend/ lovers...i.e...DODOMO...so it's noqu dodomo, my love...
DODOMO- to be in- love
