Punishment for rape

What do you think is the correct punishment for a person who has raped someone? My husband and I don't see eye to eye on this one. What do you guys think? If I were raped, I would want to kill the guy. Should the rapist get the death penalty? My husband says that rape is not worth the rapist's life. Do you think he is just saying that because he is a guy and can't relate to how women feel?

I'd like to see a rapist have his privates removed as well as both arms. Then throw him in prison and let the general population know why he is in there. They will take care of him.
I have no sympathy for a rapist and your husband should answer the question of how he would feel if this happened to you? Would he be o.k. with his answer then? I would hope not - because if he is still thinking the same way, then you have bigger problems than this question.

He said he himself would feel like killing him, but rape is not worth taking a human life. Don't worry my husband is a good guy. I have no "bigger problems" than this. :)

I lost my virginity to a rapist when I was 13 and I was repeatedly raped and beaten by 3 pigs when I was 17 and as much as I'd LIKE TO SAY they should have been killed slowly and painfully truth is seeing a rapist in GP in prison with a sign on his back and the screws turngin a blind eye would be far more pleasurable for me....I think killing them is letting them get out of punishment...its an easy out for them...put them in the system (the sentencing shoudl be longer though) and let them suffer repeatedly by the hands of others for yrs on end....

I don't know that rape is worth the rapist's life either. I do understand though that if you were raped you would want the rapist to die. If a major crime was committed against me, I would also want the person killed. It has less to do with justice though and more to do with revenge.
I think that maximum sentencing for rape is life in prison, maybe 60 years for some locales... I find the lack of strong punishments against child molesters more disturbing. Why is not someone who preys on children punished as severely as someone who preys on adults? Oh well though. I guess that is something inherited from religious and societal values on people. Most religions value/ranking usually rank children as of being lowest valued people.

I agree that child molesters should get more time. Kids are not capable of defending themselves at all against a big man or woman. Sometimes they just don't understand. You would think that public officials would want harsher penalties for these people to keep their own kids safe because it can happen to anyone's child.

I dont think that rapists should be alowed to run free in society. Once a raper, you are always a raper.

Yeah, I think that it is a mental condition that is probably really hard to get over, otherwise, why would someone force themselves on another person. It's just sick.

I think that a rapist should be raped in return. Then the rapist would actually feel what it is like to be a victim of a crime this heinous. Killing a rapist or murderer just puts one out of their misery. They should know suffering the way that their victims felt it. As far as muderers go, I think it's ironic that Scott Peterson gets a full view of the ocean that he dumped his wife and unborn child in from the jail they placed him in. It has to be horrible for him to see the waters that helped put him there and have nightmares of what he did.

In a symbolic way, it's almost like Lacy got the last laugh...that water is where he dumped her and it's like sticking it to him fom beyond the grave, to have to look at it every day for the ...rest of his miserable life.

No way! That is double punishment for her. He should suffer for the rest of his life away from all women.

People can't just go out and rape someone just cause they got excited by a girl who was dressed in an inappropriate way.

I agree with you and would like to say that he should get capital punishment as it would be a lesson for others who wish to do the same thing. Each person should think about others who are facing such a situation and should keep oneself in that position to feel the pain that is experienced

This is a tough one for women- My biggest fear is being raped. I'm not sure why...
I truly believe that if a man rapes he should face pretty severe consequences. Castration- Lorena Bobbit perhaps- loss of fingers - pulling out toenails one by one- put him in prion and let the chain gangs get at him-- I wonder how much he liked to be raped-- An eye for an eye!
I've never asked my fiance what he thinks the penalty should be? I bet he'd agree with me!

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If you were my wife and you were raped by a guy I think my very first thought would be of YOU and how you are SECONDLY I think I would want to casterate the non human pig he is. But he is a human being but he has crossed a very personal line. I would pray that you did not get pregnant. But he must pay for his crime and I would leave that up to the courts. I would want to leave the town and take you where no one knew us and start a new life and above all I would still love you with all my being. Love and Respect to you Jimbo

What a very considerate thing to say. I think that the first thought that people have is to go out and kill the person, but I agree with alot of people on here who say just cut it all off.

I have been rapped and I have to agree with your Husband there it is not worth their Lifes as much as I would want to kill the ones that have done it to me as a child
I think at least 10 years in Prison and castrate if possible without numbness
Yes I know I sound evil here but I have been there and it ruined me it certain senses to this Day 40 years later

Raping a person(no matter MALE OR FEMALE),does heavy damage to the victim's mind,heart,and body too.Yes,it DOESN'T KILL the victim,but the victim are in heavy pain.Like toturing.Heavy toturing.Rape WORTH the rapist's life,i think.

His privage parts should be severed. No need to kill him and he should be prisoned for life.
