HELP!!! i cant eat rice???

my doctor said to cut down my sugar... and the best way to do that is through not eating rice... and if i dont do that i may end up like my mom who is diabetic... but i cant live without it... filipinos love rice... alot... its part of our daily menus... any other suggetions... please... im kinda desperate...

Have you asked your doctor about brown rice? It's higher in fiber and lower in sugar. I know sometimes it is reccomended for people trying to keep a lower carb, lower sugar diet. Also cous cous is also whole grain, maybe this is a good substitute too?
Have you thought about getting some books on low sugar diets?

I am not saying your doctor is wrong but my mother in law is a diabetic and as far as I know she is allowed to eat rice . Maybe you should check with another doctor just to see if this is correct . It wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion especially since you are already upset about being told you can not eat it , and if the second opinion comes back that you cannot eat it maybe you could get some idea's of what you could eat instead .

If you drank one glass of water with ginger and lemon when you wakup in the morning before your breakfest, I granty you it will decrease your suger level and you will be able to eat rice, but you should not stop it even when your suger level turns normal, as it helps to keep the suger in the healthy level, won't make you suger less, when it reach the normal standered :-P ATT: but do not increase it more then one cup a day it may cuz you problems.
two ways to do it:
mix 2 small spones of ginger powder into one glass of water and put one drop of lemon into it only don't exceed that( it may burn you slitly but , follow it by drinking more cold water to get rid of the burning if you couldn't bare it)or you can drink 2 glasses of water in each one put one small spone of ginger with a drop of lemon and the other one just one small spone ginger without lemon . Best time to drink it just the time you wakup in the morning before your breakfest. Though it still works if you drank it during the day, but guess less effective.
or get the fresh ginger as a whole, cut it into pices, put it in a boiling water, for 5 to 10 minets, untill you see the collor of the water is changing to yellow. Then put a drop of lemon and drink it.
I use usually the first one cuz it is easier, but the second one is more natural. but do not exceed drinking more then 2 small spones ginger, cuz it may do you some problems.
