whats this world coming to?

Yesterday my husband and I took our son to the doctors for his checkup. On our way home we got a flat unfortunatly it was our spare that got the flat.My husband went walking to try to use a phone from somebody. We live in michigan and it was only about 20 degrees outside. I stayed in the car with my son and daughter. Well the first house he went to there was no answer so he continued to walk further. About 5 minites later I saw an able bodied man drive out of the first house he went to. He drove right by my kids and I looking at us the whole time. I sat with the kids for a half hour till my husband got back. While I was doing that 6 or 7 cars drove by all looking at us and they kept going. I know that they could see I had 2 kids in the car, my daughter had her head plastered to the window looking outside. I always try to stop unless it looks dangerous. I can understand not stopping then, but whats dangerous about a mother and 2 children. The man who didn't answer the door is the thing that amazes me most. All I can think about is one day these people will be stranded or have there car break down . I wonder if people will help them? We'll still stop and help people. It just seems more and more people are losing there sence of compasion. I belive it goes" do unto others as you would have done to you". What do you think?
