what does megapixils mean when it comes to digital cameras?

ok let me tell u what MP means... a pixel is the smallest division on the screen... that is console is made up of very small same size pixel and 1 pixel contains only 1 color.. when u enlare a image u find small squares, they r called pixel... 5 MP means u can have 5,000,000 pixel on screen...now if we come to digital camera then most important things are 1- Optical zoom 2- M Pixels 3- Digital zoom these are priority wise...urs is also good

5 megapixels I beleive is average. I have a camera with that is 10 megapixel, but I have paid alot for it and it is considered top of the line and produces proffesional looking photos.

5 megapixels means that when you take a picture it will be made up of 5 million pixels. The more pixels you have the more detail you will have in your picture. 5 megapixels is plenty, you generally don't need more than about 3megapixels when looking at photos on computer, but having more means that you can print them off in larger sizes without losing quality.

The higher the megapixels the better the photo your camera will take. Even though a picture from a camera with a low MP may look ok, if you were to enlarge it it would look very grainy.

the higher the better so yes 5 should give you good photos my camera is about 3.2 or something and the pictures arent bad
