Do you like to have your picture taken or are you camera shy? I'm not thrilled about having my picture taken but am a lot better about it since I lost my Mom a few years ago. We don't have many pictures of her. I wish we had more. I want my boys to have plenty to remember me by some day when I'm gone.

I'm sorry about your mother. I think it's a great idea to start taking more pictures of yourself for your kids. You may not like the pictures but I'm sure your sons would love them. I'm camera shy but will take pictures now and then.

I think letting our picture be taken is something us camera shy people have to do a lot more often. :)

Definitely not. I carry my digital camera with me everywhere. I love taking pictures and being in them. They're the best way to preserve memories.

I agree. I wish I had carried mine with me and did the same thing you do. LOL It's one of those things I would go back and change if I could.

I used to be camera shy too but then my grand ma once told me that those who are beautiful look terrible in the photos while those who are ugly have beautiful faces in the photos. I don't know how far her old school theory is right but it has alwys worked for me. try kereping that in mind then you wont worry about your picture so much. I was just 12 when she told me that, but it still helps me get over my shyness.lol

Yes I know, she is above 93 now but still is upright and does her own cooking. I admiore her strength. she broke all the rules of society when my mom became a widow. She has thew strength to make the right choice and never cares for what other people will think. she was ahead of her times then and is now too.

Aidonia, hugs to you, keeping the thought of having pictures for my boys has made it a lot easier for me to have my picture taken. Besides, our sons will always think we are beautiful because they love us. I love taking pictures of my boys also. We don't have much video but we have a lot of pictures. :)

I LOVE the camera, I should have been a movie star. LOL But as I get older I do not like the way I look in the pictures. I swear my mirror and the pictures do not look alike at all. I hate the way the camera makes me look distored and fatter than I think I am. So I am now getting camera shy after years of loving it!

Just remember that those who love you don't see your age. They only see someone they love. :)

I am not really picture/camera shy. I used to be, when I was younger, because I did not like the way that my pictures would turn out, however, I have begun to get ready for a picture, even if it is just having good lighting, a good hairstyle, nice outfitt, or makeup. It makes them all the more special and I feel more photgenic. However, a lot of my days of not being in pictures has carried over, because I am usually the one that is snapping all the pictures or behind the video camera. Sometimes, it is the pictures that we want most, that we do not have.

I'm not camera shy at all ... I love photographs - taking them or having pictures taken of me ... My friends and family start to run when the camera comes out as I seem to capture all our 'memorable moments' (i.e. embaressing pictures)
I find that taking pictures of my friends - brings back a flood of memories when I view the photo later in the future long after it was taken. I see old photos of myself and go over those phases in my life.
So for all those that are camera shy - don't be - everyone of us has a beautiful quality that sparks through the photos of our lives :)

here I am...I AM A TRUE CAMERA SHY....My parents are always telling me that when I was a child I was escaping any man or woman with a camera and asking a picture of me...therefore my father was always running after me...poor him...while growing up I simply asked no and refused to pose for a picture or find it a torture pictures at school and so on...but when I started taking care of our old pictures album, well I understood what my parents and you were telling me..pictures are memories and they can remind us of people we love...and now now I want to have pictures of my family around me and I am trying to have pictures of me with my beloved people because I want to remind me of them and to remind me of how I looked like at a particular age...that is ..pictures are still a torture for me...but I am doing my best to bear the pain!!!!!have a nice day

Remember in those moments that you are feeling shy in front of the camera that others will appreciate having your picture around when you can't be there. This has helped me a lot.

I am sorry you lost your Mom. I know it is so comforting to have photos around.
I am camera shy myself, and my friends must have hundreds of photos of handbags, pillows and jackets which I have flung in front of my face at the second they tried to take the photo! Popular I am not, especially in the days when films were expensive!
I do allow a photo to be taken every couple of years, just for the family, but that is about it.
However, since that diabolical invention, the phone that takes photos, my niece has compiled an awe inspiring collection of photos of Auntie looking silly, falling over and falling asleep!
Remember though, it is not the photo that makes the emotion, but the memories the photo invokes, so concentrate of giving your boys loads of memories and the photos will be merely the icing on the cake.

I am indeed camera phobic, i should say, because my face is not photogenic, i hate being photographed. This has been a problem with me since my childhood and as proverb says that habits are hard to die or forget, i still hate being in front of camera.

This is a very good reason for wanting and feeling the need for photos and i agree that you are very smart in wanting to take as much as you can now. I personally can be camera shy at times and i never seem to like any of my pictures of myself but i guess we all feel this way at times!

I guess we are all our own worst critic when it comes to viewing pictures of ourselves. LOL Other people look at them and say they are good! Myself, I'll concentrate on leaving memories for my boys. I'm still a bit camera shy though.

I hate having my picture taken, but like you I lost someone I love and cherish the pictures of have of them. It has changed my outlook on getting my picture taken. I don't like the way I look in pictures, but then that must be the way I do look. So snap away, but please don't over do it.
