Bike trip!

Canada

My roommate and I are planning a bike trip for this summer. It's going to be a long one, and I'm talking peddle bikes not motorbikes. We plan on riding from Montreal, Canada down through the Adirondack National Park to New York city where we plan to spend a couple days roaming around and checking things out. Then we plan to continue on down the coast all the way to Florida. Have any of you folks been on bike trips like this? I'd like this to be a place where people can share stories and experiences of trips they've gone on.

My brother-in-law did a shorter trip like this. From his home in Columbus, Ohio to Canton, Ohio, actually to a little town just outside Canton. It took him several days to do it. He tried to plan his route so that it was as direct as he could make it without being on major roads. Of course he couldn't avoid all of them but he did his best for his own safty. Hope you take a lot of pics on your tracvels and share them here. Are you planning on staying in hotels along the way or camping as you go? Or a mixture of both.

I'm sure we will take pictures along the way. And we plan on camping and staying in people's homes, and hostels if need be. I don't want to be spending all my money on hotels.

You'll meet some neat people by doing it that way. We once hosted a young fellow who was roller blading across the country. And He stopped to ask if he could work to pay for a meal. We fed him for free and just enjoyed listening to his tales of his travels.
