What has really happened to Dumbledore?

Anyone reading the Harry Potter series, young or old seems to have an opinion on whether Dumbledore is really dead. Some say Snapes actually put some type of holding curse on him that made him look dead, but he really isn't. Most comment I get are that if Valdemore thinks Dumbledore is dead, then he will show himself because Dumbledore is the only one Valdemore fears. What do you think?
