When I was a child I was frightened of death - the unknown. Now, in my mid-sixties death doesn't worry me anymore. However what worries me now is that I never want to be a burdon on my family. Although I'm very healthy now, if the time comes that I become totally dependent on someone to care for me, I believe I should be able to make the difficult choice between living and dying. I'd like to hear other mambers opinions on this very delicate subject.

You have a really good point mipen and nice topic to open up.
I myself at first doesn't agree with euthanasia but when I have the chance to study medical transcription that's when I knew what it is all about and how the patient and family will benefit from it.
My answer is depends entirely on the condition of the patient, there are times that patient only breath thru oxygen support and without it he can't stay a longer hour. Sometimes worst scenario happens to some patient and seeing that in that condition makes the family member close thier eyes and let go the family member.
I personally experience that when dad was sent to hospital and the doctor tels us that there is no hope at all but still We let dad stay and we spent his remaining days with us. I still value every single moment with dad even he doesn't talk or move his presence is enough for us.
This topic is very delicate and every opinion varies and every situation differs to one another we just have to respect other opinion.

For me it's an issue too personal to vote. The views I stated are purely my own.
