Earning potential in blogs?

I want to know ur opinion about the earning potential of a blog with google adsense or other ads or affiliate programs. How much u r earning through ur blogs and tell me about some benchmark blogs to follow. Which areas are most productive in earning through blogs.

A lot of people are writing about earnings from blogs. But I never ventured to try. In fact I am so busy with other sites, I hardly find time for blogs.
