how are certain discussions put under" today's top discussions list"?

i see that some discussions are put under "today's top discussions list"/. and the responses to such discussions are not really high. i want to know under what conditions they r put like that.

It is probably decided by MYlot themselves, they use their discretion to put any discussion, under the category 'today's top discussions'.
