Your opinion - Sachin to open or not!!!!!!!

It happened in 2002 before the 2003 World Cup. John Wright and Ganguly almost ruined Sachin's career by sending him at No. 4. But, thankfully, they realised their mistake before the World Cup and sent him back to the place which he truly deserves and what was the result? He single handedly guided India to the finals.
And not in 2007, Chappell and Dravid are set to ruin his career by sending him down to No. 4. People often learn by looking at the past but in this case, they are making the same mistake again and again. Sachin is a natural opener and he needs to bat freely and he can do that only while opening. I hope some sense penetrates the thick skulls of Dravid and Chappell and they go for Sachin and Sourav as the opening pair.

I would prefer sachin to open with any new faces rather than the old players. But many times when sachin fails to score, the entire team collapses. He is the back bone for the Indian Team. Depending on the situation they have to change the order for him.

What you are talking about used to happen about 6-7 years ago. In recent times, India hasn't been collapsing on Sachin's failure. It used to happen because of a weak middle order. But now, India's got an improved Dravid, Dhoni, Yuvraj, etc who can maintain the momentum. But presently all of them are out of form.

dude experience does count...and for a player like sachin there is no better place to bat at other than no. 1 or 2. he is a natural player with the new ball. and once he sets the rythm it becomes quite easy for the rest of the team. wel there can be no better opening combo than sachin and saurav.

Who says Pinch Hitters make good openers? 90% of the Tail-Enders are pinch hitters. Balaji was one. So should we bring him back to open for India? Opener is one who can negotiate with the new bacll and score runs simultaneously. Sachin has a strike rate of 85+ even after playing 380+ matches. Thats awesome. MIddle Oreder is for batsmen like Dravid and Yuvraj/Dhoni/Karthik. Dravid can stall one end and take singles and Yuvraj/Dhoni/Karthik can score quick runs.
