Smoking ban in public places?

what do you think about a nation wide smoking ban in all public places? i think its the right thing to do even with me being an occasional smoker. if you look at the facts just as many people if not more die from second hand smoke then from actually smoking a cigarette. I mean if you go into a family restaurant and smoke is filling the place to death literally, who wants there child to be exposed to that? let me know what you think.
