Now it's established in a survey that mindsports like sudoku & crosswords are a great way to keep the brain young n agile.......
Just like any other muscle in ur body,ur brain too,is a muscle. If u don't use it, u r definately going to loose it!!!!Research also showed that by stretching the brain with regular crosswords n sudoku puzzels,u can make ur brain like it's 14 yrs younger...
Now my question to u is that how many of u play mindsports like sudoku, crosswords, jigsaw, kakuro etc.& which mindsport u prefer & why.......??????

I played SUDOKU once while waiting for my niece. I use do it as a passtime whenever I wait for someone or doing nothing really important or just trying to test my brains out if its still working ^_^ Sudoku is a great game. I started the very first pages of the booklet and its not quite that easy. I went through it for one and a half hour solving the puzzle but it was really challenging so i didn't stop until I got the right answers. Luckily tabloids today included SUDOKU in their pages. I'll never get tired of answering SUDOKU. It's really fun.

I myself have never played sudoku, but my oldest daughter, who is 21, is seriously hooked on it! She loves that game! I was able to find an electronic hand-held sudoku game for her for Christmas (I only paid like $6 for it) and you would think I gave her a million dollars! She's bragged to everyone she knows about that electronic version, and she truly loves it. There's sudoku books all around my house from her, and she plays it whenever she can. I tried it a couple of times, and found it kind of frustrating (maybe I am losing part of my brain matter). I do know others that love it as much as my daughter, and it seems to be the new craze!! More power to you sudoku players!! :-)

We have the handheld game too, but rarely use it. Then my sister gave us DVD/board game version for Christmas. My 10yo put it on once but I haven't looked at it. I have done some of the online games but I really need to write them out. And here, we now have a Sudoku lottery scratch ticket.

I play sudoku every day to keep my grey matter working!
When it first came out I set up a website to teach people how to solve the puzzles using logic only. (there are many software solvers out there, but what's the point?)
There are some supersudoku 16x16 puzzles there too at:-

just for extra fun!

Sodoku, crosswords, cryptogram puzzles and crypto crosswords and scrabble are just a few of the mind games that I love to play.
I agree with you that they are good exercise for the brain. But aside from that, these kind of puzzles help me relax.

I myself am a Sudoku user! I have several books, and enoy a challenging 5 star. Several times i find myself falling a sleep with my nose in a sudoku book, only to wake up and spend an hour finishing it. I find that they can put me to sleep, and jog my brain in the morning...

I, me is one of those people who plays the sudoku numbers game. I actually walk every time possible to the public libruary just to be the first to answer those sudoku puzzles in every news paper that has it. Some times together with my sudoku buddies we time our selves and see if who will solve the puzzle first. greetings. : )

I've played it a few times. I haven't yet gotten into as much as some people but it is fun. I enjoy words games to work my mind. Games like Scrabble and Boggle.

I do play Sudoku. Everyday I try to finish at least one puzzle everyday. I agree with you that Sudoku exercises my brain because I realized that I develop my logical skills. I am now in level 4 of Suduko. It's now harder but it's more exciting. As for jigsaw, I did construct a jigsaw puzzle. It is consists of 500 jigsaws. It took me days to construct it. My cousin has a book with crosswords and other mind games. He didn't like answering it so I did borrow it and almost finish the whole book.

I just started playing sudoku a couple days ago by accident really. One of my brother had a soduko book and I happen to come upon it. I had heard of it but never really understood how it worked or tried it before. I read the instructions and tried a couple puzzles. I got the hand of it right away and was impressed that I was able to solve the puzzle without any difficulties. The more puzzles I did and was able to solve, the more confident I got and the more addicted I became. It was hard to put the book down. I wanted to do one more and see it I was able to solve it. I guess it's a good addiction. :)
I also agree with you that you need to exercise your mind and keep it alert by doing mind activities. As you get older, your brain ages as well. It's just like your body, the more you exercise, the more tone your body becomes and the healthier you are. The same thing goes for your brain as well.

I love sudoku! I play it because it is a break from my mundane boring life! It makes my brain work and helps me feel like I am still moderately intelligent! I have like 4 books, play online, and I was even tempted to by a handheld electronic one the other day. Crosswrods I like...not my favorite though. Jigsaws used to be my favorite until I had children and pieces started ending up in diapers..ewwwww and I am unfamiliar with Kakuro. I will have to look that one up. And a question back to you...do you consider a forum such as this, enough to make your brain work and give it that young fresh appearance!

I am a die-hard fan of sudoku. I play it daily in our local news paper which they publish daily. They publish four types everyday, easy, medium, difficult, and very difficult. The easy and medium, i will finish it within an hour but the difficult ones will take usually hours to finish and i don't even know the time passing when i am playing sudoku.

I enjoy sudoku and crosswords. I have never tried kakuro but I might buy a book on that the next time. I haven't done a crossword puzzle in awhile because I keep picking up my sudoku book. This book had easy, medium, hard and difficult. I am find the difficult ones very difficult. Why to I play these games, I have always done crosswords since I was a kid. I guess I never stopped loving them.
