i almost bought one on ebay.com thank god i did not. i just wrecked mine and i thought my car looked ugly that i was tempted to buy a new one, but my dad changed my mind he said if i gave him some money that he could have my car looking like normal again by next week. so i gladly gave him what he asked for right away!

Oh, I would strongly suggest NOT buying a car from eBay. I had a friend tell me a horror story about a friend of his. He told me how his friend bought a car off of eBay and the guy who sold him the car made a key for his friend and the guy with the key took off with the car. Or something like that...

I've only had one new car so far. I bought it in 2004 and am keeping it til I can't drive it anymore! Before that, all my cars were passed down.
So the answer is - I get a new car when the old one is unsafe/or has issues that are too expensive to fix.

Wow that is a big gamble, I would never even consider buying something as big as a car off Ebay! I think you were wise not too. Unfortunately I can never afford to buy a new car, so I usually get a car that is 1 or 2 years old already, I buy from a good reputable car showroom. I usually buy another car every three years, or when I can really afford it, which is not often!

no big deal - my dad is a mechanic and its already fixed with a new hood and everything and all at 380 dollars that didnt really impact my budget because i had just received 360 a few days before unexpectedly that was owed to me. Also my dad was able to get these car parts very easily since he owns a car parts store.

I just bought my first car. i'm 24 and i've never owned a car. i live in a small town and i can walk most places i need to get to so i never really had a need for one but now i thought it was time. it will be nice to get to drive around now.

I wouldn't say I buy a new car at all. Most of the cars I have had have been handed down. My husband had a car when we met and we sold it. Then because of kids, we took over payments on his mom's car. Hoping by this time next year to be able to get something a little bigger.
