and by the way... i wonder why we keep on saying it as superstition...
what i understand about superstitious beliefs are those with causes and effects. anyway... i wonder if somebody could help us give an answer on where this belief came from...

Attempt have been made to trace the origin of the common expression back to ancient Egypt. It is often said that Pasht, the cat-headed goddess of Egypt, had 9 lives. Egyptologists saying that has no evidence. Pasht is regarded as immortal. Nine was a favorite number in Egypt as well as with other ancient stories. It may have been acciated with the cat-headed goddess.

I don't know where the expression comes from...
But I believe that my cat has 18 lives... lol
He was run over by a car when he was just one year old... and he managed to crawl back home with a back foot completely smashed. The vet managed to re-construct his foot... and three months later... he was good as new.
Several times... I thought I had lost him after he went missing for several days. But he always find his way back... even when we are in new places where he has never been before... (I take him with me on holiday).
He's been in some terrible fights... but it does not seem to worry him. I think they have 9 lives because they have the amazing ability to heal really fast from their wounds and they seem to be very resistant to severe pain.
He is 8 years old and still going strong.

i don't know ... but somehow when a cat meets several accidents, it doesn't die at once...dosen't need to be reborn... seems they really have reserved lives...???
