Astronomy the study of the movement of planets and stars is an accepted science. Astrology though is based on the astronomy that deals with the influence of these movements of planets on human life and behaviour was in existence centuries ago has yet to get the acceptance of the scientific community, the reasons for which is simple bias of a section of the prejudiced scientific community and their unwillingness for research. Like any other modern science , these two branches of knowledge was also born and flourished in the early civilized regions of the world ,Viz.India, and Greece (Mohenjadaro and Mesopotamian civilizations stand testimony to this.) In these areas both the Astronomy and Astrology were subject to serious studyand enquiry and valuable literature is available on these topics in sanskrit for serious students. It is India .that can boast of the serious study and research of these two branches of celestial phenomenon. Known names of astrology were also great astronomers like Aryabhata, Bhaskaracharya, Varaha mihira to mention a few. While the branch of astronomy has developed by the support and promotion of the developed world the other most useful branch of this celestial phenomenon got neglected under the pretext of superstition though it would be a better tool to get insight into the human mind, behaviour ,latent talents, opportune time to exploit the best of the person and also to have clear understanding on the mental and physical health of a person and and diseases one would be subject to. I do hope wisdom would prevail on the modern scientists of the world to give this branch of knowledge its due status.
