Ok maybe I am just old and cynical - but having spent a few weeks now on MyLot I got to wondering whether everything we read here is totaly genuine or whether some posters just make up sensationalist stuff to generate responses and get money. I don't mean to offend anyone - just wondering what do you think?

No ofcourse not. I believe and accept only those things which my brains allows me to accept. If any mylot user says anything impossible or crap then I would never believe it.

i don't if it sounds too far fetched but if you research it then you can see if it's true or not. that's what i do. you're not old and cynical. some people probably are trying to just post stuff to gain money. i don't do that personally. you didnt offend me...

I've the same suspect about topics that are provocative only to generate more anwers. I think there are a few people here that don't post stories of their life but even episodies seen in television (but not reported as news/articles but as fruits of personal expiriences) used for generate compassioned answers. I hope that people that use false stories to get answer is really a few. Especially when they speak about painfull themes. Sometime ago I've seen a mylot user that wrote only this kind of topics, sincerly I thought that it's impossibile that a persone can have all these adversities... and why publishing here? I'm sceptic too, I admit it.

Yes- at first I wasn't sure and thought I was being too sceptical and cynical myself - but I do agree with you. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

I am aslo skeptical about this. I don't think all the discussions are genuine. Some people just want to create controversy over mylot by posting something very personal thing and want to get more responses.

Rosie...I think that some people on here try to generate income by posting misleading items. I do not agree with it but I'm afraid that its hard to stop it.
I like to post and read posts that are relevant to my way of thinking either humorous or serious and do not post on threads that do not interest me.
I do not believe everything I read on Mylot because I find that people who tell untruths dig themselves into a hole.

Yes this is true. The more lies you tell, then the more lies you have to tell to cover the original lies - and so it goes on. Thanks for posting.

I think that this is where finding out which "friends" post genuine responses and keep a lookout for their discussions and replies.
I have accepted many friends on myLot but know of a few that always give a truthful, well thought out reply. Unfortunately, I think that way to many members are here to reap the financial benefits only and will post either nonsense or what they think the discussion starter wants to hear.

I do agree with you on the friends issue. I have some good friends here - we respond to each others discussions and I trust them. But others I am not so sure. Thanks for responding.

I don't believe in all the posts i read on mylot. I'm 100 % sure some ppl do make up stuff just to get more responses. like one thing we all know for sure - if someone asks for advice/help - there will be more responses - so ppl will dig up issues or ones which do not even exist to get responses. i know there are 70 % who would never do a thing like this - but yes.. there is a huge ratio of ppl i think would. Just my honest opinion!

Of cause I don't think so.
I know some people just want to get response and reply to get money, don't speak their thought. I also do something like that.
I think we come here to make friend and make money, don't mind it is real or cheating, just for fun.
but it is necessary that don't meet people here until you know a long time.

I don't know for sure if everything that I read on MyLot is true or not or how many members would even think about writing something that wasn't true, unless it was a joke, but if they are doing such a thing it's helping them with their responses and ratings.
