I have never tasted de caffinated coffee. Does it taste different? Or does it have the same taste? What about the aroma?

I drink a lot of coffee...probably too much and rarely drink decaf. I don't know if it is pschological or not but I think I can taste the difference. That difference being that it has less bite and actual coffee flavor.
I'm no expert in the decaffination process but I have heard that chemicals are used and in the process, flavor may be lost.
