Reading History

I am fascinated with ancient and medieval history, anyone want to recommend any books or authors and share what they like about them.

As for ancient history - I liked very much "Chronicle of the Pharaohs" by Peter A. Clayton. Medieval history - "The last Plantagenets" by Thomas B. Costain. And I liked also very much "Ancient mysteries" by Peter James and Nick Thorpe - very informative, and witty too!

I like to read stories about people who lived in the middle of fistorical events... But reading historical book just like that is kinda boring I believe..
