Hmm, is a very interesting question..because for the most part they do wake up every hour on the hour..but some babies do sleep like logs..after all their fussin atleast.but i honestly think people use that expression because we see babies as so docile and calm..and those attributes can be related to how or how we like to sleep.

you know what im not sure that does seem odd to tell someone that but i guess i do sleep like a baby i wake up a lot during the night

I don't know about you but my baby sleeps as long as 11 or 12 hours at a time. So I definitely understand the term. My son's been sleeping like that since he was about 4 or 5 months old. It's nice. He's our natural alarm clock. If the power were to ever go out, we still have him.

Nice to see you after a long time.
You are right. That is why we don't say he was awake like a baby. When babies sleep they are so carefree to the ills of the world and it is comfortable to sleep this way. Though the period may be short the baby is in deep slumber as long as he is sleeping.
