Should advertising be allowed in schools?

I'm working on a report for school right now about public schools and their multi-million dollar deals with companies like Coca-Cola. It made me wonder what people on MyLot thought about things like this. Some people say that schools need this money, and there's not any other way that the schools are going to get them. Other people argue that by allowing major companies into our school, we are allowing them to have too much influence over young minds. I know that at my school, there are several large vending machines with the coke logo plastered all over them. Is this right? Should students be exposed to this much advertising, especially for unhealthy products like coke?

It's sad to say that even school organizations would have sponsorships from big companies because they have the money to finance school programs and other affairs. And most of school canteens have their fair share in having those vending machines in almost every corner. Students who were used to drinking Coke wouldn't mind this. Unless some research study capture their attention on their lifestyle, they won't mind spending for a can of Coke. Besides, a vending machine inside the school provides convenience for the students.

That's true. I guess one of the reasons that this seems so odd to me is that I never drink coke anyway. I feel like it's unhealthy and try to drink juice or water instead. Perhaps to someone who drinks coke all the time anyway, it wouldn't be a big deal.
