Parents, can you cry in front of your children?

And are you able to explain why when they ask? Do you tell them the truth, or just say, "I'm just sad right now."
I know it depends on the age of the child because as adults, we can't tell our children everything. So, parents, what do you do or say?

absolutely. I am a single dad of two teenage daughters and I cry more than most men I'm sure. I have to deal with all of their "stuff" with school and friends. Its hard not to cry. But if you're asking about things that don't pertain to them, yeah, but being single, theres not a whole lot to cry about other than things about them. I think parents should cry in front their kids and share those emotions with them. Its all a part of who we are and what we feel. Parents shouldn't hide things like that from their kids. But like you said; age does make a difference and my kids are teenagers.

Yes, I do at times. I believe in being very open with my children. If I can express my feelings openly, then they feel comfortable expressing their emotions. I explain to them why I am crying. I think they should be told the truth and not cover up things with silly excuses.
