I have seen the movie, I cried for hours I couldnt believe that people could of done this to Jesus. I understand that it Jesus new how he was going to die and when, I read my bible and understand Why this had to happen. What do you think, have your read the scriptures? Have you watched the Movie? What is your opinion on the Movie? What is your opinion same beliefs or not, I just want to know what others think.

I have not seen the movie, I do not do well with scenes of violence and cruelty. I do understand the process quite well, however as we studied it in depth in college. Think about this fact, though: No matter how painful and cruel the physical crucifiction was to Jesus, the most painful thing of all was when he took our sins. The Father, His Father, cannot look upon sin, and when Jesus took our sin ( sin nature) God could not look upon Him, but had to turn away. That isolation was more painful than all of the physical trauma included.

I agree. The perfect, sinless Lord Jesus actually becoming sin - the exact opposite of His nature - must have been the biggest torment of all. O what love! O what sacrifice! The Son of God, slain for ME!

That was a most excellent movie, that showed the reality of Jesus's suffering and sacrifice. I found it very inspiring.

I saw this movie in the theaters. It was so difficult for me to watch. I have the movie in my dvd collection but can not bring myself to watch it again. It is to emotional. In the theaters I had to turn away and not look because it was to much for me to handle. I can see why it was all put in the movie because people needed to see what possibly had happend to him.

It is a very sad and emotional movie. It makes anyone with a heart cry.We all wonder why Jesus had to die when he did.I dont know much about the scriptures.I have watched the movie and it was so hurting to show Jesus being tortured like that.I dont understand why did he suffer so much.He is so nice to people. Why was he treated so cruelly?Even while dying Jesus asks the God to forgive them which is so touching.

i watched the passion of the christ and i thought it was a very real version of what actually happened, except when it happened to Jesus he experienced more pain and torture and its written that one could not recognize his body parts as they where so badly disfigured. My faith is strong and it makes me weep to think how much suffering Jesus had to endure so that we may be forgiven for our sins and can enter into heavens gates and its paradise that awaits us. What moved me the most was the beginning of the movie when Jesus kills the snake, the devil, satan actually and the other scene is that of Jesus's wipping, when that lady and the baby in the cloak walk around. I feel that this movie is does not produce alot of anger but appreciation for what Jesus endured for us.

The snake you refer to at the beginning of the movie is a reference to Genesis 3:15. 'that lady and the baby in the cloak' represents Satan. And your right, it does not produce anger, but appreciation. Thank You for your post.

I saw the movie, and had to walk out in the middle. I was sick with the pain of feeling my Lord hurt so bad. On the other hand, I do believe it was way overdone, over and over and over of beatings, and found it to have anti semitisim overtunes. I read the bible all the time. The things that happened, had to happen. It was all in the plan, and Jesus did not have to do it, but He chose to do the Father's will to save all people with eternal life by choosing to be the lamb that was slain for the sacrifice as the rules of Jewish law.

I thought it was an outstanding movie. It was exactly what happened to Jesus according to the Holy Bible. I had to turn my head several times. The beatings were terrible!

The cross of Christ - Calvary: the cross of Christ
Yes, I have seen "The Passion of the Christ". There was much violence which shocked a lot of people. Many asked me if I thought it was overdone. Overdone? No. It was way, way, underdone. The violence would have been much worse than could have been presented on screen. The worst part of the crucifixion was the part that could not exactly be portrayed on screen, but it was there for those who understood. During the three hours of complete darkness, the Lord Jesus Christ, the perfect Lamb of God, BECAME SIN. Oh the total horror of that! Absolute perfection becoming absolute degradation! For the first time in the whole of eternity, the Son was separated from the Father, because that is what sin does. Sin separates. No wonder Jesus cried out in agony as this separation occurred and the wrath of God was poured onto Jesus, who gladly bore the penalty for my sin! I think that anyone who viewed the film and understood WHY this happened, must have been moved: that the PERFECT, spotless, sinless, Son of God should endure this agony for ME!

I am not religious but do study religious history. It is an ultra conservative very catholic view. The whole catholic church is based on guilt and this film delivers that in spades. it is a powerful and important film but remember it is only one mans personal interperetation based on his personal beliefs.

I am Southern Baptist, and I do understand the Catholic view. With most movies about the bible I get it from the sorce and not from the movies. I think this is very helpful though. Thank You for your post.
