My favourite one is "Silmarillion". It is a complete creation of a new cosmology, with gods, goddes, man, elves, draves, and so on. Absolutely fantastic!

My favorite would be "Smith of Wootton Major" and "Farmer Giles of Ham." Both stories are published in one book, and they are not related to the fantasy world of Middle-Earth. I really like The Hobbit too, and the Book of Lost Tales 2, because it contains the old version of the story of Beren and Luthien, which is in many ways different and more whimsical than the story that made it into the Silmarillion.
