So far I've accepted all of the requests, although I have checked their profile first, don't know why, and don't really know why I accept them. If I was to request a friendship I don't think I'd be too bothered unless it was someone I knew personally, and there ar every few of those people here.
I think I'm going to start being a little more choosey and really check out their profile, do they make many new posts? Do they make good quality responses to topics? Are they trying to disguise who they are too much, for example using an avatar of a beautiful young woman when they are a middle aged man.

I choose reading their discussions. If I made a request and this request is denied, no problem... simply that person don't like to have me as a friend!

As I have been known in mylot to have a few tantys and sooks lol I am lucky and blessed that anyone wants me to be their friend lol although I must say things have become a bit quiet lately, but I accept those who request it and then see how much they put into my discussions or what their discussions are about and it is then that I see if we are suited!

Is there a way to know if someone has denied your request to be a friend? I requested a friend and it appears they either haven't responded or denied me. I am saddened if they denied me because I think we would be good friends as we both have the same interests and illness.

well at sites such as mylot or orkut or myspace it is a very common thing. if you invite someone by will then it too matters the other person's will to accept you or reject you as a friend. well i just have a look at the profile and invite people for friendship.

I will feel a bit neglected. But I try to make up my minding thinking that this person is not fit to be my friend (LOL) Actually, i will think that may be he doesnt want to be my friend. May be he has reasons for that. And I will just forget about it. We cannot make others to be our friend, only we have to be as friendly as we can be.

For myself when someone wants to be a friend I look to see what discussions they have started and which ones they have replied to, are any of them mine for example or did I reply to a bunch of theirs. That's the main thing if it looks like they just picked me at random I deny them. For me to ask someone to be my friend I usually only do that if I really like some of their discussions or responses where we seem to have similar tastes.

I accept all friend requests.. unless I accidently mess up and refuse them, which I did by accident do that about 2 times.
but I usually do accept them, I dont see why not. it gives you more people to look up their conversations and reply to them.. which is how I responded to this one, because your on my friend list..
I dont think it really matters if someone accepts my request or not. I dont personally know any of these people and maybe they dont like accepting people who they have no clue who they are, so them denying me is ok.
I dont really go around requesting everyone be my friend but if I like what they are about and have things in common or a certain post just touched me in a good way then I may request friendship..

I have gotten really choosy about my friends list, and I have started to decline some requests. I have also had a couple of requests declined... I expect mostly because my opinions didn't agree with theirs.
Since there are so many "nonsense" discussions being posted, my friends list represents people who create quality content-- both in original topics, and in replies. I use my friends' discussions as a basis for what I want to read-- which works OK for me, since I don't have a huge amount of time to spend on the site.

I usually accept them all, but I dont know why, I just do, I dont want to reject anyone for no reason, I guess it would be a little weird for someone to deny you, although, I wouldnt really take it that personally as I dont really see the reason for friends on here, since I dont really talk to any of them.
