but lots of gays can;t even tell parents. so it will be hard telling best friend in case they tell parents

No, no, no, I think you are missing my point. If you and a friend are close, the friend will just know. If it is all very hush-hush, your friend may be shy to say anything to you. In that case your parents won't find out. I should think that your parent love you, regardless. Parents are supposed to have something called 'unconditional love' for their children. Know what I mean? Jellybean (I love it when I can say that!)
