hi guys recently my dog had bitten 2 or 3 people in interval of 10 days. i called up my vet and to my utter disbelief he said that my dog doesnt need anti rabies vaccine for whole life as long as he doesnot fight a rabid dog or monkey. is my vet right or does he need a doctor himself?

It really depends on what country you live in. It is not required here in the UK as there is no rabies here. The States do require dogs to have a rabies shot. When living in the States, I always made sure they had all their shots including rabies.

Get yourself a new vet and I'd report this one to your local health authority. Its a law in nearly every country in the world that dogs must be vaccinated and have boosters every year or 2 years. If your dog is biting and not vaccinated you are liable for a still fine or jail.

Go to another vet for a second opinion.
I have dogs myself and every year my Vet gave them anti-rabbis shots and vaccines.

What are you doing about your dog? The fact that it bit 2 or 3 people in a 10 period should be taken seriously. You dog is in need of some help.

They definately need a anti-rabies shot. Our country requires that all pet dogs have a rabies tag and records on file.

The vet needs a doctor himself! Dogs need their rabie shots every year. I think there are vaccines out that last for 4 years but I'm not sure. Your dog can get rabies from just about any animal that is infected, and every animal is able to get it (including us humans). You can always just call another Vet for an opinion. I also know that in the U.S. a lot of states have a law that if your dog isn't vaccinated you can be fined. If I were you I would ask the Vet for a copy of the dog's records and go to a different Vet.

It is best to have it, especially if your dog spends any time outside. This is to protect your dog, your family, and the people your dog is biting! Look around on the internet and try to find some information on training your dog to not bite people, as well!
I would find a new vet. Also, for the rabies vaccine, I know that here in the US there are places you can buy it from and do the injection yourself. It saves money, and you don't have to go to crazy vets! LOL
If your dog does get rabies from a rabid dog or monkey, it will usually not survive the rabies and will have to be put to sleep.
