Strictly speaking sharing music that is copyrighted thru P2P software like limewire is supposed to be illegal. Remember the cases against Napster and how it closed down.
Most bands feel that such downloading songs for free eats into the album sales and hence cry hoarse about it.
There are a lot of arguements for and against the legality of such music and they will rage on.
I dont use Limewire because of the threat of viruses, spyware, trojans etc etc.

If the music is copyrighted and you do not pay for it, it is illegal.
If you get a virus and screw up your computer, that is your fault.
The reason I am on here is to here extra money for things like iTunes.
Now think about it, if you were a musician, would you continue to record music and sell it, if you knew that most people in the world that had it stole it from you, because they downloaded it rather then pay for it.

I'm not sure. I'm in the UK, so the laws may be different here, but I thought that all free music downloads were illegal. That's why Napster had to become a paying site. But then, is it different if it's a p2p software? Because all you're really doing is sharing what other people have. I'm not too sure, to be honest. It's the sort of thing you could find more information on, through talking to your service provider, possibly.
