Simon Cowell is the way he is!!The show would not be as entertaining without him. The contestants know that Cowell is sometimes mean and over the top. Yes, sometimes I think he is too mean but that is why some people watch it. For me, I love to watch American Idol because I want to see the contestants sing and chose who I like.

I think the jusges on those sorts of shows are a little harsh sometimes and they have been proven wrong, when they say some should lose weight it has been proven my the public that it doesn't matter they have voted for people on their music abulity, sometimes I think all these shows throw in a bad boy just to create headlines...

I agree with Simon. He's not there to make people feel good. He's there to find an American Idol. If they can't take his criticism then they aren't going to make it in that business - that's just a fact. Hollywood isn't nice. Being a celebrity isn't all fun. It's hard work and involves dealing with alot of people much harsher than Simon. He's doing them a favor - it would be a waste to send someone through who ends up not being able to handle the stardom and cut throat executives in the music industry.
