Some people don't want the responsiblity that a child has to have. A dog may seem easier for them to handle. That way they don't have as many responsibilities that a child will have. So, i'd have to say no to this question. A person shouldn't adopt a child instead of a dog.

Raising a pet is a lot easier than raising a child. Some people just aren't ready to take on the responsibility of being parents yet. I do, however, think that if you are ready to raise a child, you should definitely adopt before having your own.

I think you should reconsider this thing.. JUST THINK THAT you are orphan and dog is getting more importance..
Hope you reply me..

But doesn't that orphan child deserve to have parents who are *ready* to take responsibility for him or her?

I think you are right but then my efforts are just to make ppl ready. Let them know what mistakes we ppl are making..I just got a email from one parent who had adopted a child and how happy he was... His life was once saved by adopted child

adopting dog and adopting children , they both are very different from their respect...adopting childrens means you are ready to bear all those responsilbilities which a ideal parent should posses...but in case of dog its nothing like that , you cant compare the maintainance and care of dog with a care of any child....

Most of you all are giving the same reply but i believe that all those who believe that adopting a child requires a lot of responsibility and all ppl are not ready for it.. i think you all are hypocrist...

Well, a child is a commitment for many many years and a child becomes the center of your life. A child costs over $100,000 to raise and needs many more things than a dog. There are approx. 17 domestic dogs in the world for every person and 42 domestic cats, so there really are lots of pets that need homes. In some parts of Mexico, there are abandoned dogs that roam the streets and the local people will shoot them, poison them, or even drown them in tanks to get rid of them. These animals used to be someone's pet! They love their people and rely on them, and then they get abandoned to either run wild and probably be killed or rot in a shelter with a lot of other dogs, being exposed to diseases and parasites in a stressful environment, hoping that someone will save them and take them home until usually they are put down. Orphanages don't kill the children. So, no. I don't think everyone should adopt a child. Dogs are a lot easier to take care of, and a lot easier to rehome if it doesn't work out. People who want children can adopt children, but pets are great for people who don't.

Adopting a child is much different than adopting a dog or a cat. Adoption can take a very long time to happen for some parents. There are various steps that the parent(s) have to take in order to get to the actual adoption process. This can be extremely intensive and takes much patience. So, it isn't as simple as most would think or like it to be. Here are a couple of web sites that you can check out, and then you can make your own assumptions on how difficult or easy it can be.
Adopting a Waiting Child - Step-by-Step: http://www.adopting.org/adoptions/adopting-a-waiting-child-step-by-step.html
National Adoption Center - How to Adopt: http://adopt.org/servlet/page?_pageid=67&_dad=portal30&_schema=PORTAL30
Hope this information helps you out some.

No doubt adopting a child is much complex process but then again it doesnt mean that dog doesnt require attention and care. Instead i would say that even it requires lot of attention. And i believe if you are right a child will be reaLLY helpful to you rather than dog

not necessarily. Alot of people just arn't good with kids but are ok with animals. And even though pets cost alot of money, not quite as much as kids. Plus adopting a pet could be practice for having kids later in life.

Yeh people should adopt children than pets, as a human life is more valuable. If people started adopting children then they are really doing a good Job. They can even sponser a childs education or living to an orphanage instead of spending them on pets.

dogs are easy to get rid of........i mean, there are people who get tired of taking care of pets and so they drive them away. but children can't be driven away. it involves a lot of responsibility.
or maybe some people believe that pets can be more loyal as compared to humans.

Adopting a child is very expensive in most cultures. There are legalities that must be met and well, raising a child is just plain expensive. But I do have an adopted child by the way.
Adopted children, if you adopt an older child, can come with problems that must be dealt with such as anger, hate and confusion. These are normal emotions, don't get me wrong, but they can be compounded in a child that has been tossed through the foster care system in order to find a permanent placement for them. This can lead to years of counseling and/or treatments.
To adopt an infant, takes time. In most cases, a lot of time. The waiting lists are very long. There are certain conditions that prospective parents must meet in order to even qualify to be on the waiting list. An older couple will have a hard time qualifying based on their age alone with quite a few of the agencies here. Then there are income requirements and proving that you can provide adequately for the child throughout their life.
To adopt an animal, you go to the shelter and spend time with the animal. You fill out paperwork and are approved within hours if not days. You pay a minimal fee (NE was 95.00 the last time I knew for a dog which is already spayed/neutered and has had all it's shots). There is the responsibility of having that animal - caring for it and loving it, but for some people, this is the only option to having a "child". Many people feel their animals are their children as well.
It would be wonderful if everyone who wanted to could afford to and qualify to adopt a child. In some cases, it's just not a possibility.

adopting a child is a big responsibility. and some people just prefer animals to kids. one pro would be the animal doesnt talk back at you.

yes people should adopt children instead of dogs, or they adopt children and dogs. There are so many children out there who have no parents to care for them. They should be prioritized.

There are countless ownerless pets and children. People should adopt both because both need homes. Pets feel pain and fear and loss just like children do. People should do their best to help both.
