Do people ever call you by the wrong name?

If so, what do they call you? Is there one name that people always mis-call you?
My name is Diana but people will often call me DEANNA or Diane. I do not mind Diane (although it's so easy to add the extra "a" at the end but I really dislike being called Deanna. My brother use to call me that to tease me and it still bothers me today.

What a pretty name. You don't have people calling you Lupita? I can see how they might think it was Lolita though. :)

(((Heather)))
If it was deliberate, then those people are idiots. You are neither a heathen or a heifer. I doubt it was on purpose.
I'm so glad to see you here too!

I hadn't thought of that - I guess some people also confuse their names for someone elses. I don't think my name can be confused for someone elses, unless their name is Banana :)
Right, Lizette?
*lol*

HAH! I like that :)
I do sometimes tease people who say my name wrong. I will start calling them a name that is completely different than theirs on purpose. Like if I'm talking to someone named Kim and she calls me by the wrong name, I will start calling her Anna or something different. Or if a guy named John is calling me the wrong name I will call him Chuck. They look at me confused and I have to laugh!

ROTFL!
If someone called me Miss. HO - I would HAVE to come up with a witty comeback. I don't know what it would be, but I know I'd come up with one. It's like they are asking for it.
Darn Telemarketers!
Thanks for the laugh :)

ya it happens often with me.In my school the teachers pronounced my name incorrectly and now i am in a college and i am facing the same problem again. But i suppose its better to correct people instantly when they call u by the wrong name.I do it all the time haha

Yes it is good to correct them instantly but I have such a hard time doing that.
I will, however, correct people who say my son's name wrong. It happens all the time and it annoys me because his name is Christian and they call him Christina (which is a girls name!) He does not look like a girl. *lol*

Ohh freaky! Your double must live close to you if people are mistaken you for them. Yikes! Maybe you have a lost twin??

When i was five years old and on a seesaw, my father hit me on the head with a board. I did not become mentally off or lose my intelligence, but among other things it has affected my ability to remember names. I may very well know someone and yet not remember their name. If I do not know someone's name then I avoid calling them by name.

People for some reason always call me by the wrong name. My name is melissa, and I am constantly being called Melanie or Michelle, In fact, when I worked at Walmart, a fellow associate would look right at my name badge and say "Hi Michelle!" and I would say "HI!" I just let it go, and then one day, he finally came to me and said "Michelle, is your name melissa?" and I said, Yes, it has been my whole life!, he felt bad.. I don't know why people do that though. (:

I was always called by my sisters' names when I was little. At school people always called me by my older sister's name. Anywhere else, I had about a 50% chance of getting called by my little sister's name. Her name is Darla, mine is Carla. They are easy to confuse I suppose. Plus it didn't help much that we are only 2.5 years apart and we were the same size by the time she was in 1st grade. Everyone always thought we were twins. Even my mom can't tell us apart sometimes in pictures of us individually from when we were little. So it never bothered me.
What bothered me was when people would mispronounce my maiden name. It's Turnbull. Yeah, it's not that common, but come on, it's pronounced just like it looks. I would get people on the phone that would say stuff like Trumble! I had a professor in college that called me Miss Trunabell. It drove me crazy. I corrected him every day for two months and then just gave up.

I have been called by the wrong name before. Sometimes people will call me melissa (my name is michelle). Funny thing is, I work with a Melissa, and people will mix up our names sometimes. The same thing has happened to her before we worked together as well. funny!
